“Your guide to working with Norwegians” new “Lunch” comic book in English to be launched at ONS

Børge Lund, the man behind the Lunch comic has for the first time written a book in English. The comic book can come in handy for people who want do to business in Norway. And that’s not all, Monday night 29 August the TV-series based on the same characters will premiere downtown Stavanger at ONS+.

The launch of the first English comic book “Business in Norway” is a perfect fit for ONS, as many international visitors can get a first-hand guide to succeed in Norway.

For 15 years Børge Lund has created over 3500 cartoon stripes with gold nuggets from the Norwegian business life. Now he is eager to help foreigners and people from different cultures getting a better understanding of Norwegian business culture through the Lunch comic.

“I have tried to look at Norwegian business culture from a foreign eye and point of view and have of course enhanced some traits. In essence it is a good look at ourselves sprinkled with humour and irony. Hopefully it is fun for both Norwegians and people from other paths of life,” states Lund.

Lund will himself be present at the ONS exhibition with plenty of books ready to sign. Just look for the “Lunch” logo, he will move around.

High demand for English book

“Lunch has already been translated to five languages, but an English book has been in demand for a long time. The Lunch-team who also are coming to life in a comedy TV-show to be aired on Norwegian TV2 this autumn, could actually need that book in one of the episodes,” says Lund.

They get an international visitor in the office, and Nico and Vanessa are fighting for the same resource, the cool intern Tim from Canada.

“Brown cheese, beer prices and bad English are the three key words,” Lund explain.

The TV-series based on the comic will be pre-launched at ONS+, before regular showing on TV2.

Cartoon comics from Norwegian business life and the characters from the Lunch-universe are usually recognisable for many people. The launch of the first English book “Business in Norway” and the pre-screening of the new TV2-humour show is a perfect fit for ONS. A new Norwegian book with the appropriate title “Change happiness” (“Endringsglede”) will also launch at the exhibition.

The characters are coming to life

TV2 has in cooperation with the production company “The Oslo Company” made 20 Lunch episodes to be aired and streamed on TV2 and TV2 Play this autumn.

“To transfer my cartoon personalities over to a TV-show has been a challenging process. With the experienced team of writers, we have dug deep in my files and picked many office situations that are both recognisable and funny. I am very excited to see how it will be received among my fans,” says Børge Lund.

The Kjell personality is seen as the comic centre of Lunch, but now he will have to share the limelight with his co-workers when entering a TV-screen.
