“We are excited to invite 100 students from Ullandhaug Secondary School to the Innovation Camp on Thursday during this year’s ONS! For many years, Innovation Camp has been a highly successful day where young people have been challenged and inspired to find real solutions to real problems,” says Nora Andersen, Project Manager, ONS Young.

Innovation Camp is organised by Ungt Entreprenørskap Rogaland and ONS Young, with the task based on this year’s ONS theme – Imagine. Students will work in groups to find a solution to the problem they are given and present their solution on stage in front of a jury. The four best groups will advance to a super final where they can win money for their class fund.

“Collaboration, problem-solving, and presentation skills are just some of the experiences students will gain during Innovation Camp. Many will have to step far outside their comfort zones, and as a result, they will feel a great sense of accomplishment after completing the challenge,” says Nora.

In 2022, the group O&E Global from Sola Secondary School won first place. Their solution on how to build trust between the energy industry, the public, and interest organisations was to develop an app for open communication between the energy industry and residents. They also created a sketch of what the app would look like and clearly demonstrated how the app could facilitate transparency and dialogue between the public and the industry.

New this year is that students will also receive a special tour of the exhibition on Tuesday, where they will visit three different companies – Baker Hughes, Wintershall Dea, and Aker Solutions.
