Gro Harlem Brundtland’s vision and legacy: the first 50 years - and looking forward
Join us as Gro Harlem Brundtland and Einar Lie discuss the past 50 years' groundbreaking changes and how we can imagine Norway's next 50 years towards sustainability.
- How was the climate issue brought to the international agenda in the 1980s?
- What challenges lay in simultaneously being a climate policy pioneer and Prime Minister of a wealthy, oil-producing country?
- Are we on track to meet the climate policy goals, and what does the next 10-20 years look like?
Gro Harlem Brundtland, Norway’s first female Environment Minister and Prime Minister, will share her experiences and insights on climate policy evolution. She will be joined by economist and historian Einar Lie. Together, they will explore Brundtland’s role in raising global awareness of climate issues, her strategic balance of economic and environmental responsibilities, and the ongoing challenges in achieving climate goals.
In both Norwegian and English
This discussion will offer valuable perspectives on the future of climate policy, innovation within the oil industry, and the importance of international cooperation.
