Sustainability and circular economy is a big theme at ONS in 2024 and several of our exhibitors coming this August are excited to show us their technologies and methods. One of these is Stena Recycling, a company in Stavanger working to offer reliable waste disposal and recycling technology on an industrial level.

A well known problem in a more digitalized and electric world is the increasing amount of electronic waste, which is something Stena Recycling is well acquainted with. At the branch in Mekjarvik outside Stavanger, the quantity in this category has almost doubled in a few years.

When I started here ten years ago, we received 6,000 tons annually. Now we're up to 10,000 tons, says customer manager Leif Inge Abrahamsen.

We live in a society where it's cheaper to buy new than to fix the old. We can't continue at this pace without considering recycling more, adds business development manager Øyvind Sandve.

Stena Recycling has 180 facilities across Europe where six million tons of waste are recycled annually. Critical raw materials can be recycled at the milligram level.

We have our own research department ensuring that we are at the forefront of development. 10-15 years ago, people thought of us as 'junk dealers.' Now, people understand that we can offer innovative solutions, Sandve adds.

Stena Recycling also participated in ONS for the first time in 2022 and had a positive first-time experience.

It was clear that the green shift has been given a significant place and something many companies wanted to talk about. The energy industry needs ONS because it's an arena that encourages more collaboration, says Sandve.

You can find Stena Recycling at ONS this august in Hall 9, Booth 9105.
