Halleraker believes that the programme of ONS 2024 should focus on the energy of the new world and less on oil and gas. As the world shifts towards cleaner energy sources, Halleraker believes that the energy transition is one of the most important changes happening, and his company, Hydro, is a key driver.

He hopes that ONS 2024 will be a breakthrough event for young people and industrialists to get going on executing the green transition, inviting them to “imagine the possibilities of the energy of the future”.

Expanding your network

Hege Marie Norheim, EVP Corporate Public Affairs & Sustainability at FREYR Battery, believes that ONS needs the perspective of pure players in the renewable industry, such as start-ups like FREYR.

She says, “ONS is the combination of meeting your network and friends in the industry from collaborative work over many years and the constant challenge of keeping updated on what’s new and coming as well as, of course, expanding your network!”

For Norheim, ONS is an established platform for the energy business in Norway and globally. It’s a great place for FREYR to present their industry, their business plans, and develop new partnerships.

Norheim expects to see discussions about the financial incentives for the energy transition, following the launch of the Inflation Reduction Act in the US, China’s new 5-year plan, and the EU’s Net-Zero Industrial Act and TCTF framework. She encourages attendees to “imagine the impact that the renewable industry can have on the world.”

The energy transition is happening, and ONS 2024 is set to be a crucial event in discussing the implications and opportunities it presents. With the theme of IMAGINE, attendees are invited to think outside the box to create a better future.
