Here are the nominees:

NOV subsea products

Subsea Storage

NOV subsea products

The NOV Subsea Storage technology is a high-tech underwater tank system that can store liquids subsea, e.g. ammonia, e-Methanol and chemicals for offshore operations. The system’s novel component is a membrane that allows variable storage volume at constant pressure, enabling subsea storage at any location and water depth.

The system handles everything automatically by communication with a surface control center, reducing the need for human intervention and monitoring and thereby reduces environmental impact, lowers operational costs, and enhances safety.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy

RecyclableBlade

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy

Wind turbine blades are designed to be durable by using composite material which has proven to be difficult to recycle. Siemens Gamesa’s RecyclableBlade is an innovative wind turbine blade designed with a novel resin system which fulfils all technical requirements and properties, but with a structure that allows for efficient separation and recycling of materials at the end of its service life.

Welltec

Test Flow Loop (CCUS)

Welltec

Welltec's Test Flow Loop is a state-of-the-art facility designed to accelerate the maturity of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), providing advanced full-scale testing of materials under extreme CO2 conditions to ensure its integrity and effectiveness in CCUS applications. By replicating the harsh conditions of CO₂ storage, materials that are critical to the integrity of long-term storage can be validated and qualified.

Hitachi Energy

EconiQ gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) ELK-3, 420 kV

Hitachi Energy

Since its introduction in the 1950s, sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) has been the gas of choice for circuit-breakers and gas-insulated switchgear in high-voltage substations, due to its unique characteristics for its purpose. However, its environmental impact is significant if it is released into the atmosphere. By replacing SF6 with an eco-efficient gas mixture. Hitachi Energy’s EconiQ gas-insulated switchgear, enables transmission networks to operate with the minimum carbon footprint and maximum reliability.

Aker Carbon Capture

Just Catch™ (carbon capture plant)

Aker Carbon Capture

Aker Carbon Capture’s Just Catch™ plants are standardized and modular carbon capture units designed to reduce CO2 emissions, with capacities from 40,000 to 450,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, with the possibility to combine in series. They offer advantages like easy transport, installation, and operation, and can be operational within two years. These plants play a crucial role in the company’s mission to produce carbon capture solutions for mid-scale emitters.

The SME Category:

Geotherma AS/Green Therma ApS

Heat4Ever

Geotherma AS/Green Therma ApS

The Heat4Ever geothermal solution, offers a simple and reliable way to extract geothermal energy with minimal CO2 emissions. Using a single horizontal closed-loop well, Heat4Ever harnesses heat from rocks at depths of 2-5 km, providing hot water for various applications such as current district heating grids, expanding district cooling and heating grids, and various industrial applications such as pasteurization of milk and heating greenhouses. Unlike solar and wind power, this underground installation is noiseless and doesn’t compete for surface space.

Amogy

Ammonia-to-Electric-Power Solutions

Amogy

Amogy’s ammonia-to-Electric-power technology converts liquid ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen, using hydrogen fuel cells to generate carbon-free electricity. This efficient solution provides five times the energy density of traditional lithium batteries and serves as a cost-effective, zero-carbon alternative for hard-to-abate industries like maritime transport and heavy construction. Unlike combustion engines, Amogy’s technology produces zero carbon emissions at the point of use, marking a significant step toward sustainable power generation.

Evyon

Evyon Industrial - Safe and modular energy storage

Evyon

Evyon Industrial’s energy storage system repurposes discarded EV batteries, significantly reducing its carbon footprint by up to 85% compared to new batteries. These reused batteries find a second life in applications like renewable energy integration, EV fast charging, grid support, and replacing diesel generators. Evyon’s approach not only minimizes waste but also accelerates the transition to a more sustainable energy future.

Mocean Energy

Blue X

Mocean Energy

Mocean Energy’s Blue X wave energy converter underwent successful testing at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney. Deployed at the Scapa Flow test site, Blue X provided low-carbon power and communications to subsea equipment, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional umbilical cables. This achievement paves the way for Mocean Energy’s commercial product, Blue Star, which aims to provide renewable power and communication for various subsea applications.

Hystar

Game-changing PEM electrolysers

Hystar

While traditional methods for green hydrogen production are expensive and use a lot of critical raw materials, Hystar’s innovation focuses on Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers automating manufacturing and introducing thin membrane technology to increase efficiency. Their solution produces at least three times more hydrogen than conventional methods, transforming industries, transportation, and energy storage while reducing carbon emission
